The Top Hallmark Mysteries that Need Another Movie!

Hallmark Mysteries has created some delightful movie series full of intriguing investigations, engaging characters, and the potential for romance amid hunting for clues.

However, there are some series that we feel cry out for another installment!

These are the top Hallmark Mysteries that we feel need another movie:

7. Signed, Sealed, Delivered

Description:

Signed, Sealed, Delivered introduced audiences to a talented and dedicated team of civil servants known as the Postables as they work in the U.S. Postal System's Dead Letter Office. They transform into a group of elite lost-mail detectives, determined to deliver seemingly undeliverable letters and packages, and prove that miracles can happen.

It begins when tech-savvy Shane McInerney (played by Kristin Booth) is mistakenly transferred to the Dead Letter Office. Challenging the unconventionally old-fashioned yet charming leader Oliver O'Toole (played by Eric Mabius) and surprising his experts, the free-spirited Rita (played by Yan-Kay Crystal Lowe) and oddly-intuitive Norman (played by Geoff Gustafson), Shane inspires the team to work in unorthodox ways. The optimism, faith, friendship, and love amid the investigations make this series stand out and stand the test of time.

Why it needs another movie:

We were delighted when Hallmark chose to green light some more Signed, Sealed, Delivered movies so it might be greedy to add this to the list and ask for more… but the Postables fans are some of the most vocal and this is one of the most beloved Hallmark mystery series.

We would love to see more of their adventures!

6. True Justice

A group of students look serios near a courthouse.

Description:

In True Justice: Family Ties, law student Casey Barlowe (played by Katherine McNamara) searches for the killer of her estranged friend when her little brother is wrongly convicted of the murder. With the help of some old and new friends (played by Markian Tarasiuk, Alexander Nunez, Marisa McIntyre, and Sabrina Saudin), Casey searches for answers and justice.

Why it needs another movie:

While this could be a stand alone movie, it feels like the assembly of this team has more that they can do. We would love to see the relationships between the team members play out and what the characters will do once they officially become lawyers instead of law students. It feels like a great setup to see how justice can be served in other capacities.

5. Gilded Newport Mysteries

A woman sits in period piece garb amid picture frames

Description:

In Gilded Newport Mysteries: Murder at the Breakers, the year is 1895 and Emma Vanderbilt-Cross (played by Ali Skovbye) is a reporter for the women's pages of the Newport Observer. When her half-brother is arrested for murder at a fancy ball, Emma vows to find the true killer so he will not become the scapegoat for the wealthy elite. Detective Jesse Whyte (played by Danny Griffin) might be considered an ally, but it’s harder to tell the motives of a handsome new stranger in town (played by Nathan Witte.)

Why it needs another movie:

We would love to see more of Emma’s efforts to rise above the society’s dictates and write the stories that she really wants to. However, the main reason we would love a sequel is to see how the love triangle established in this movie plays out.

Will Emma’s relationship with the detective grow? Will she follow her infatuation with the stranger in town? Or will romance take the back seat to her career aspirations? We’d love to see!

4. Martha’s Vineyard Mysteries

A man and woman look haunted while surrounded by a beautiful beach

Description:

In A Martha’s Vineyard Mystery, Boston Detective Jeff Jackson (played by Jesse Metcalfe) has been forced into early retirement and returns to coastal Martha’s Vineyard to recover physically and emotionally. However, when a dead body washes up on shore, he is called in to help his childhood friend Dr. Zee (played by Sarah Lind) and her police chief father (played by Eric Keenleyside.)

Why it needs another movie:

Throughout the series, Detective Jeff Jackson has been haunted by the death of his partner. Feeling guilty that he survived while his partner did not, Jeff has not been able to make sense of what happened.

Though Jeff’s prying and some flashbacks give us hints about what occurred, we would love to have another film to delve into this backstory and to see Jeff finally get some closure.

3. Darrow & Darrow

A female attorney stands with her arrogant-looking mother at the top of the image and with a cute defense attorney at the bottom.

Description:

Darrow & Darrow follows idealistic defense attorney Claire Darrow (played by Kimberly Williams-Paisley) who is at odds with her estranged corporate lawyer mother Joanna (played by Wendie Malick) who pops back into her and Claire’s daughter’s life. Funny and heartwarming, the family dynamics are as entertaining as the mystery. There is also a charming flirtation between Clarie and Assistant District Attorney Miles Strasberg (played by Tom Cavanagh).

Why it needs another movie:

While this series doesn’t have the crazy cliffhanger of some of the others, we would love to see more of Claire and Miles’s relationship play out. The characters comment on how they sometimes seem to move backward instead of forward with their romance. We would love to see them openly admit their affection and what they would be like as an “official” couple.

2. Cut, Color, Murder

A man and woman look intruigued amid icons of a beauty pageant crown and scissors.

Description:

Cut, Color, Murder follows hairdresser Ali Reed (played by Julie Gonzalo) as she assists her sister and her clients in a beauty pageant until the founder of the contest is found dead. Then, Ali must use her keen observation skills and ability to get people to open up to solve the case. The backdrop of the pageant allows for lots of pizzazz, but this isn’t the only case on Ali’s mind. There is also the haunting backstory mystery of who killed her husband.

Why it needs another movie:

Currently, a stand-alone movie, Cut, Color, Murder cries out for a sequel so that Ali can get justice for her husband’s murder. The cliffhanger of a clue that she uncovers at the end of the movie creates intrigue that makes us wonder what Ali will do next - and makes us want another movie!

  • At the end of the movie, Ali uncovers that the detective she had befriended and flirted with while solving the pageant case is most definitely involved in her husband's untimely death. She had just gained this information when looking through photos at the end of the movie. How will she use this knowledge to prove who her husband's killer is? Is there more to the story? We would love to find out!

  1. Mystery 101

A man and woman look serious near a forest.

Description:

Mystery 101 follows Professor Amy Winslow (played by Jill Wagner) who begins investigating real crimes instead of just teaching about literary ones when they occur near her college. Detective Travis Burke (played by Kristoffer Polaha) who is not a fan of crime fiction begins to become a fan of Amy’s when he realizes how helpful her “meddling” truly is. Adding insight to their investigations is Amy’s best-selling thriller writer father, Graham Winslow (played by Robin Thomas.)

Why it needs another movie:

Throughout multiple movies, we watch Amy and Travis’s relationship grow from irritation to true friendship and then to romance. Amid interesting investigations, this slow build and realistically tender portrayal made audiences love this couple. However, as soon as the duo admitted and acted on their feelings, Hallmark added a tag to the happy ending of their Mystery 101: Deadly History to make viewers crave another installment.

This tag inspired our “Has Hallmark Given Up on Happy Endings?” video.

The tag jumps into the future with Detective Burke examining a dead body at a crime scene and sadly saying that the victim is Amy’s fiance.

Jarring and confusing, this tag undoes the relationship we watched unfold for seven movies for no clear reason other than to make viewers want to tune into the next movie for answers and the potential for Amy and Travis to reunite.

Hallmark has canceled the series and currently has no plans to revive it, but this abrupt and unhappy ending to the series currently is the reason it takes the number one spot on our list for Hallmark Mysteries that need another movie.
