Hallmark Movies & Mysteries 2023 Mystery Premieres
There have not been many announcements regarding the mystery movies that will premiere this year on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries, but there are two that we know about so far that are worth being excited about in 2023.
The first is a brand new series called Family History Mysteries, and its movie is titled Buried Past. This premieres Sunday, January 28th at 7pm ET.
Family History Mysteries appears to focus on mysteries that aren’t criminal in nature. Instead of catching killers, Genealogist Sophie McClaren (played by Janel Parrish) uses her skills to find and reunite families.
Family History Mysteries: Buried Past has Sophie searching for the long-lost father of her close friend Jonathan (played by Morgan David Jones) and old flame Jackson (played by Niall Matter) in order to get Jonathan the life-saving bone marrow transplant that he desperately needs before time runs out.
The next premiere that has been announced is a second movie in the Curious Caterer series and is called Grilling Season. This premieres on Sunday, February 5, at 9 pm ET.
Again, we follow friendly caterer Goldy Berry (played by Nikki DeLoach) as she investigates a murder. In Grilling Season, Goldy plans a lavish barbecue event for her friend, but after the party is over, the grill explodes - killing her friend and making Goldy appear as the prime suspect. Hopefully, Detective Tom Schultz (played by Andrew W. Walker) can help her on this case like he did in Dying for Chocolate.
After months of holiday movies, we are pleased to see some mysteries return!
We’re intrigued to see Family History Mysteries: Buried Past and see if it will have a vibe similar to the beloved Signed, Sealed, Delivered series. which also focused on non-criminal mysteries. It will be nice to see a genealogist as an investigator and hope that solving these family cases will be ultimately uplifting. We also look forward to seeing Niall Matter in another mystery after The Aurora Teagarden Mysteries.
We excited that Curious Caterer will have another movie since Goldy was as sweet in her investigating as her cookies, and the mode of murder described in Grilling Season sounds exciting.
We’re excited for these premieres but can’t help but wish there were more mysteries added to the slate.
What HM&M series would you like to see revived? (For us, it’s Mystery 101 after that cliffhanger!)
