2024 Cozy Mystery Movie Premieres

While not all mysteries for the year have announced their release dates (hello, “Knives Out 3”), these are some cozy mystery movies that we can’t wait to watch.

This trio of cozy mystery movie premieres make us think 2024 is off to a stellar start!

  1. True Justice: Family Ties

Premieres January 12, at 8 p.m. ET.

On Hallmark Movies & Mysteries Channel

Premise:

In True Justice: Family Ties, law school student Casey (played by Katherine McNamara) sets out to prove her brother’s innocence, but to do so, she and her friends will need to find the real killer.

Why we’re excited:

We love when quirky ensembles work together to solve a mystery and this looks like a great group. We love Nikki Deloach (from The Curious Caterer series) and know that this movie will have heart since it’s about saving a sibling.

2. Murder is Easy

US Release - Early in 2024

Premise:

In this adaptation of the Agatha Christie story, Murder is Easy, follows Luke Fitzwilliam (played by David Jonsson) who meets a woman on a train who explains that a killer is on the loose in her small English village of Wychwood under Ashe. When she is found dead on her way to Scotland Yard, Luke feels compelled to find the killer before they can strike again.

Why we’re excited:

We’re always on the lookout for great adaptations of the Queen of Crime’s work, and this looks exciting. The casting adds an undercurrent of interest to make Luke Fitzwilliam feel like even more of an outsider in this small town, and the production quality looks like it will transport us back in time. We think it will be “easy” to enjoy this mystery!

3. Gilded Newport Mysteries: Murder at the Breakers

Premieres February 2nd, at 8 p.m. ET.

On Hallmark Movies & Mysteries Channel

Premise:

Gilded Newport Mysteries: Murder at the Breakers takes place in 1895 Rhode Island and follows a society page writer who witnesses a murder at the Vanderbilt Mansion.

Why we’re excited:

We’re excited to see Hallmark’s hand at a period piece mystery and believe they will have good source material with the books by Alyssa Maxwell.
