Hallmark 2022 Mystery Musings

2022 saw the release of four new Hallmark Movies and Mysteries series. All of them are worth checking out, but how to decide which one to watch first? It might depend on your mood.

Something Sweet

Dying for Chocolate: A Curious Caterer

This movie follows, Goldy Berry, a single mother and owner of a catering company as she investigates the death of a friend. Her devotion to her daughter and her friend’s memory, as well as the delectable desserts that she whips up and decorates on screen make this a sweet viewing.

Starring: Nikki Deloach and Andrew W. Walker

Something Darker

Francesca Quinn, P.I.

While this isn’t a full-fledged thriller, this is edgier than Hallmark usually goes. I’m terming this “Hallmark Dark” as the story begins with a backstory about a serial killer and is punctuated with serious Noir-inspired narration by our PI heroine. In this movie, Frankie Quinn investigates the death of her fiance while facing her past.
Starring: Mallory Jansen, Dylan Bruce, and Teryl Rothery

Something Exciting

Cut, Color, Murder

This movie follows hairdresser Ali Reed as she assists her sister and her clients in a beauty pageant until the founder is found dead. Then, she must use her keen observation skills and ability to get people to open up to solve the case. The backdrop of the pageant allows for lots of pizzazz, but this isn’t the only case on Ali’s mind. There is also the backstory mystery of who killed her husband.

Starring: Julie Gonzalo, Ryan McPartlin, and Grace Beedie

Something Humorous

Nikki & Nora: Sister Sleuths

Humorous but with heart, this movie follows fraternal twin sisters who are thrust back into each other’s lives when they inherit a detective agency and one’s mentor is murdered. They are wildly different people and use different techniques when solving a case together. This well-plotted mystery takes the sisters on an adventure where hopefully they can learn how to be a family again.

Starring: Hunter King and Rhiannon Fish
