The Best “Hallmark Movie & Mysteries” Sleuthing Series

Hallmark Movies & Mysteries has many sleuthing series that provides us with clever clues, interesting investigators, and satisfying subplots. Here are our top 10 current favorites:

10. Fixer Upper Mysteries

Shannon Hughes (Jewel) comes across crime scenes and mysteries while running her historic home restoration business. With the help of new friend, reporter turned crime novelist Mac Sullivan (Colin Ferguson), they search for answers.

Pilot Movie - Framed for Murder: A Fixer Upper Mystery

Number of Films - 3

It's very enjoyable to see the historic homes getting restored - even if a dead body might be found in the walls. Because Jewel is in the leading role, some singing is added to the show, which adds some music to the murder.

9. Matchmaker Mysteries

Danica McKellar plays Angie Dove, a professional matchmaker with her own television show in Philadelphia, who helps jaded in romance Detective Kyle Cooper (played by Victor Webster) and her retired policeman father Nick Columba (played by Bruce Boxleitner) solve cases while wondering if she's finally stumbled across her own perfect match.

Pilot Movie - Matchmaker Mysteries: A Killer Engagement

Number of Films- 3

This has fun romantic subplots amongst the mysteries.

8. Crossword Mysteries

Hallmark favorite Lacey Chabert plays newspaper crossword editor Tess Harper who uses her wordplay and puzzle skills to help Detective Logan O'Connor solve mysteries. It also stars Barbara Niven as Tess's aunt and John Kapelos as Logan's father and chief of police.

Pilot Movie - Crossword Mysteries: A Puzzle to Die For

Number of Films - 6

It's fun to try and solve the crossword puzzle clues - as well as the big murderous mysteries.

7. Garage Sale Mysteries

Jennifer Shannon (Lori Loughlin) owns an antique shop, Rags to Riches, with her best friend Dani (Sarah Strange). While balancing family obligations and running a small business, she finds time to unravel mysteries and murders.

Pilot Movie - Garage Sale Mystery

I loved seeing how the found treasures would lead to a mystery that needed to be solved.

6. Morning Show Mysteries

TV host and chef Billie Blessings (Holly Robinson Peete) solves mysteries on and off camera alongside handsome detectives (Rick Fox and then Colin Lawrence.)

Pilot Movie - Morning Show Mystery: Mortal Mishaps

Number of Films - 6

I enjoy the baking segments as much as the investigations. Also, Aunt Cassandra (Karen Robinson) is a great character!

5. Signed, Sealed, Delivered

The Postables team at the Dead Letter Office solves non-murderous cases and uncovers clues to deliver lost mail to their rightful owners with heartwarming results. It stars Eric Mabius, Kristin Booth, Yan-Kay Crystal Lowe, and Geoff Gustafson.

Began as a Hallmark TV series with 11 episodes and then switched to TV movies.

Pilot Movie - Signed, Sealed, Delivered

This series is romantic, delightful, and heartwarming.

4. Cut, Color, Murder

Hairdresser Ali Reed (Julie Gonzalo) assists clients and her sister prepare for a beauty pageant, but needs to become an amateur sleuth to make sure the wrong person isn't accused of murder after a dead body is found.

Pilot Movie - Cut, Color, Murder

Number of Films - 1

The main character's ability to get people to open up to her (especially in her styling chair) make her an effective sleuth, and I'm rooting for her to solve the backstory mystery about her husband's murder.

3. Mystery 101

Professor Amy Wagner (Jill Wagner) teaches "Whodunnit" fiction, but gets pulled into solving real crimes alongside Detective Travis Burke (Kristoffer Polaha) and her best-selling author father Graham Winslow (Robin Thomas.)

Pilot Movie - Mystery 101

Number of Films - 7

Amazing chemistry between the two characters and different points of view about crime (detective, novelist, professor) make it no mystery that this series is a success.

2. Aurora Teagarden Mysteries

Candace Cameron Bure stars as Aurora "Roe" Teagarden, a librarian and amatuer sleuth who runs a true crime club that begins investigating real murders in town.

Pilot Movie - Aurora Teagarden Mystery: A Bone to Pick

Number of Films - 18

Quirky club members help a determined and energetic Aurora in a way that makes finding fun clues and allows for some laughs amongst the dangers.

  1. Murder, She Baked

Hannah Swensen (Alison Sweeney) has her cookie plate full running a bakery and deciding between two suitors, Detective Mike Kingston (Cameron Mathison) and dentist Norman Rhodes (Gabriel Hogan), when she needs to start uncovering clues to solve a murder.

Pilot Movie - Murder, She Baked: A Chocolate Chip Cookie Murder

There are five episodes under the "Murder, She Baked" title and then it changes to "Hannah Swensen Mysteries" in 2021 after the main character gets engaged.

Alison Sweeney is delightful and engaging as Hannah Swensen. The love triangle is fun and the baked goods look mouth-watering and delicious.
