Hallmark’s Nikki & Nora: Sister Sleuths Premiering This Week

If you’re anything like me, you are counting down the days until October 2nd when Hallmark Movies & Mysteries will be premiering a new cozy mystery for us to solve!

Nikki & Nora: Sister Sleuths focuses on fraternal twins who are complete opposites but who must come together to solve a murder.

It promises to be full of heart-warming sibling drama paired with a compelling whodunnit, and I’m hoping it will keep me chuckling as I collect clues along with the characters.

The movie stars Hunter King as Nikki, an enthusiastic but out of work actress struggling to get by, and Rhiannon Fish as Nora, a successful young lawyer. You might recognize Hunter King from Hallmark’s recent release, Hidden Gems, or her role as Summer Newman in The Young and the Restless. Rhiannon King has been on series such as Neighbors and The 100, but I know her best from her Hallmark Movies & Mysteries roles in Signed, Sealed, Delivered: The Vows We Have Made (Charley) and Aurora Teagarden Mysteries: How to Con A Con (Melissa Needham.)

Madison Smith also joins the cast as a potential love interest, and you might recognize him from Garage Sale Mystery: The Wedding Dress (Tyler Burgess) and Write Before Christmas (Carter J.Winthrop). David Attar (from Riverdale) also plays the Chicago detective who is none to pleased with the sisters’ meddling.

It is based on an original story by Dianne Dixon and is written by Marcy Holland (the writer of the Picture Perfect Mysteries series among many other credits.) It is directed by Kevin Fair who has directed many Hallmark movies, including five Morning Show Mysteries movies.

With this cast and crew in place, I am eager to see what they have created.

Do the names Nikki and Nora sound somewhat familiar to you? I’m guessing this in an homage to the timeless investigators, Nick and Nora Charles, created by Dashiell Hammett. The Thin Man was the original book they appeared in, but this led to a series of radio plays, movies staring William Powell and Myrna Loy, and even a Broadway play. While that series would be classified more as  Noir than Cozy, it does infuse comedy and family into solving every case which was thoroughly entertaining. I’m hoping that Nikki & Nora: Sister Sleuths will infuse those same elements.

If the sisters can learn to work together and recognize how their differences can be strengths in an investigation, the killer had better cover their tracks!

Nikki & Nora: Sister Sleuths premieres Sunday October 2nd at 9pm ET / 8 pm CT on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries.
