Murder of a Mail-Order Bride by Mimi Granger
Description: Lizzie Hale is surprised that mail-order brides exist outside of the pages of the historical romances that she sells at her shop, Love Under the Covers, but is willing to welcome the new arrivals to her town. However, when one bride is murdered, she needs to act fast to discover who the killer is before they can strike again.
Why I’m Excited to Read: I really enjoyed the first book in this A Love is Murder Mystery series, so I am excited to read the sequel. This is another book shop that I wish existed in the real world so I could meander about all the themed rooms. I also really liked the main character and the duality of her knowing everything about romance in fiction but being super awkward about it in real life.
2. A Murderous Persuasion by Katie Oliver
Description: Professor Phaedra Brighton would love to focus on teaching her Jane Austen literature courses, but instead must come up with a way to save her aunt’s Laurel Springs Inn. Drawing inspiration from her favorite author, she convinces her aunt to throw a Persuasion -themed murder mystery weekend to drum up business. Everything goes great until one of the participants really is murdered…
Why I’m Excited to Read: I am also a big Jane Austen fan and I really liked the first book in the A Jane Austen Tea Society Mystery series because of how Austen-inspired events were brought into the modern day real world. I love the idea of a Persuasion -themed murder mystery and think the story can only get more exciting with a real murder to solve.
3. Six Sweets Under by Sarah Fox
Description: Becca Ransom returns from Hollywood to her Vermont hometown known as the “Venice of North America” to become a chocolatier at her grandparents’ shop. When a local curmudgeon is found dead in the canals before the town’s annual Gondola Races, her grandfather becomes the prime suspect and she must find the real killer to clear his name.
Why I’m Excited to Read: This is a new series that sounds super sweet. I’m excited to read about the location (because a dear dream on mine to ride on gondolas) and all the delicious candies. I also like when solving a murder is personal for the main character and this definitely sounds like it is if she needs to save her grandfather.
I can’t wait to start reading these!
